Medan, (20/01/2018) - Medan City Government signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BPJS Health Branch Medan about Health Insurance Semesta Coverage in Medan City, Tuesday (16/01/2017). This MoU UHC was signed by Medan Mayor Dzulmi Eldin together with the Head of Medan BPJS Kesehatan Ari Dwi Aryani and witnessed by BPJS Deputy Director of Health of North Sumatera Region and Aceh Budi Mohamad Arief and Chief Medical Officer of Medan Usma Polita Nasution. The signing of this MoU is also an implementation of Presidential Instruction no. 8/2017 on Optimizing the Implementation of National Health Insurance Program, especially by Local Government. The Memorandum of Understanding stipulates the commitment of Medan City Government to ensure the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Program which is the National Strategic Program and also to improve the quality of service for the participants of National Health Insurance. "This MoU is an implementation of Presidential Instruction no. 8 Year 2017. At the same time as the Government of Medan in supporting the National Strategic Program ", said Dzulmi Eldin. In his statement before the media crew, the Mayor of Medan asked the private sector to participate to finance the surrounding population as a participant of JKN-KIS. In addition, the Medan City Government has also issued the Mayor of Medan Regulation No. 99 of 2017 which requires all entities to register their employees into JKN-KIS participants. Through the signing of the MoU, both parties agreed to commit to pursue the coverage of JKN-KIS membership up to 95% before January 1, 2019. The target will be pursued through several efforts contained in the MoU text, such as synergy to organize health insurance for residents registered by the City Government Field. As of January 1, 2018, approximately 2.2 million people in Medan City or 90% of Medan City residents have become JKN-KIS participants. Medan city government committed to reach UHC in 2018, by increasing the number of participants financed by the budget as much as 75,000 people to 328,724 inhabitants. With the signing of this MoU, BPJS Branch Head of Health Ari Dwi Aryani, expect all stakeholders to work together in support of the target, so that no more residents who do not become participants JKN-KIS.
